One of almost 100: German solution for automated IoT & OT security convinced the high-profile FIC Forum Startup Award jury

Duesseldorf, March 7, 2023 – The FIC 2023 Startup Award aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of security, digital trust and industrial cybersecurity. Nearly 100 applications were received for the selection process, twelve finalists were invited to present live in Paris to the high-profile jury.  As the only German finalist, ONEKEY was not only allowed to present live, but also convinced the jury and was the first German company to win the important award in one of the four categories. The jury, consisting of large corporations, investors and representatives of the security authorities and the French army, awards the prizes in the categories FIC Startup Award, Jury Prize, “Coup de Coeur” and Cybersecurity for Industry (OT). “We are very pleased with the recognition that comes with the FIC Startup Award Cybersecurity for Industry award. Our core mission is to help our clients secure their connected products, from smart devices, industrial controllers to all other connected devices. Our services simplify legal product security compliance to existing and new legal regulations, i.e. the upcoming EU Cyber Resilience Act.” explains Jan Wendenburg, CEO of ONEKEY.

New EU law sets high standards

The EU’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) will become a new, mandatory standard for the global industry, marketing their products with the European Union. All manufacturers, importers and distributors of products with digital elements – practically anything with a microchip – will be required to take a series of stringent measures and implementnew workflows to achieve the highest level of security for digital devices. In addition to security measures against unauthorized access, companies will also be required to manage software vulnerabilities and patches in the future – before damage is caused by exploitable vulnerabilities. This includes a Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) that reflects all digital components of a connected product  or IoT system – including hidden software components. ONEKEY operates one of the world’s largest automated analysis platforms to scan digital products for known and unknown vulnerabilities that hackers could exploit. ONEKEY thus already provides the automated analyses and information that manufacturers urgently need to secure their products.

IoT security is a challenging task

The International Cybersecurity Forum FIC is Europe’s leading event on digital security and trust issues. It takes place on April 5th to 7th in Lille, France and is unique in bringing together the entire cybersecurity and “trusted digital” ecosystem: end users, service providers, solution providers, consultants, law enforcement and government agencies, as well as academics in the field of IoT security. “One of the most important areas of the overall security infrastructure is the security of connected devices from the IoT and Industry 4.0 ecosystem, and this is where the FIC plays a critical role in informing and collaborating efforts. We are happy to present our solution and services, including the requirements of the new Cyber Resilience Act at the FIC 2023 at our booth E1-22 in the Cyberscurity for Industry area,” adds Jan Wendenburg, CEO of ONEKEY.
